Subject: Hanzi QUiZ flashcards
I have created a Chinese flashcard study tool and just installed it here today. You can find it in the navigation tabs. Currently it is the right-most tab.

This study tool will give you a different set of character words to study everyday of the month. The current set is for beginners and has 18 words per day for calendar days 1 through 30. Please take a break on the 31st because you deserve it.

This flashcard tool requires a good unicode font. Mac OS X users should have the font called Kai.
Windows users will currently use the Arial Unicode MS font, however, that one doesn't look too pretty.
If you know of a better font, please inform me and I will add it to the list in front of the Arial Unicode font.

The settings can be saved for logged in users. Changing the settings on the quiz page will not affect the saved settings. The page is loaded once. Once you finish the quiz, you can do it again by reloading the page. The order of the list will change everytime.

Click scoring to see the hidden fields. Click the field names to hide/unhide that field for that moment. The next card will be shown according to the settings at the bottom of the page.

Suggested Use:
Hide the kanji word for new cards. Try to write the word each time. Click the green button for a correct answer, the red button for an incorrect answer, the pink button for something inbetween or just to skip. Your score will be tallied. Try to master that set of Chinese words before the end of the day by doing the quiz several times throughout the day.

Please provide feedback in this thread. Thank you.

Subject: Big update
I have just finished updating the Hanzi flashcards! I think it is ready for everybody to look at now.

First, it is no longer the right-most tab. But it is still called Hanzi QUiZ and has a yellow icon.

Next, you will find that there are 5 sub-tabs on the page. One for each of 4 different levels, and a 5th one that encompasses all the levels. Each sub-tab has 3 sets of flashcards! This makes a total of 15 flashcard sets.

On tabs HSK1 through HSK4, the first flashcard set is of single-characters. These are words which have only one Chinese character. The second set has 2-character words. The 3rd set has the rest of the words in the level.

You can go through all of the words for a level in 1 month. The word lists change everyday. Again, no cards on the 31st of the month.

For the HSK ALL tab, the sets are divided into how long it takes to complete the 8800+ words. The first set, on top, has a 180 day cycle. This means, if you study this set, you will cover all the words on the HSK in 180 days. The second set, in the middle, has a 4 month cycle. The 3rd set has a 3 month cycle.

The final major change is that the Chinese characters will be displayed graphically so that everybody can see the Chinese characters displayed in a nice, slick font.

A reminder: Registered members can save their settings. To do that, from the Hanzi QUiZ page, click on the Settings tab at the top. This will take you directly to the Hanzi QUiZ Settings where you can choose your default and save it.

Users of IE 6 or 5.5 will see a warning message. The message states that the page does not look as good as it would on a better browser. You should upgrade to 7.0 or use another browser like Firefox, Mozilla, Safari.
In fact, this whole forum looks much better on any browser that is not IE 6! It has to do with a problem displaying transparency in png images.

Questions, anyone?
